Can anyone join the American Business Council of Dubai and the Northern Emirates?

The American Business Council of Dubai and the Northern Emirates welcomes those interested in membership with our organization. In order to achieve our goals and objectives though, we limit our membership to certain businesses and individuals that meet special criteria, specifically American businesses or individuals and other non-American nationals involved in business with U.S. interests. More information about membership including an online application can be found in the Membership section of this website.

How do I get a document notarized for use in the United States of America?

Documents that need to be notarized for use in the United States of America should be notarized at a U.S. Embassy or a U.S. Consulate. In the United Arab Emirates, you can have your documents notarized at the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the U.S. Consulate General in Dubai. You can find more information about this service from the website of the U.S. Consulate General in Dubai.

Where can I get information about filing U.S. tax returns?

The U.S. Embassy and U.S. Consulate distribute U.S. tax forms. They do not provide tax advice or information. We also have limited supplies in our office. You may also get information and forms from the website of the Internal Revenue Service. You may find their publication “Tax Guide for U.S. Citizens and Resident Aliens Abroad” useful.

How can I vote in an upcoming U.S. election when I am overseas?

American citizens may receive a Federal Post Card Application to register to vote from the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the U.S. Consulate General in Dubai. State regulations determine voting requirements. You can find more information about your state’s requirements for voting overseas from the Federal Voting Assistance Program. In some circumstances, you may be eligible to use the Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot if you have not received your ballot from your home state in time.
